Care2 is Hiring a Director of Business Development

A rising number of these nonprofits have made Care2 a centerpiece of their annual and multi-year campaigns to attract new grassroots members.

Job Description:
Care2 is currently seeking a Director of Business Development to market and sell Care2’s promotional services to nonprofit organizations, and to help develop new nonprofit partnerships and identify new strategic growth opportunities.  The ideal candidate will have several years of experience selling products or services to nonprofits, or in a related consulting field, a wide network of industry contacts and an excellent ability to think on their feet.  Previous consulting, fundraising, or online experience is a plus.  Experience developing and conducting cause marketing campaigns is also a plus. The position is based in downtown Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:
•    Identify new opportunities with nonprofit organizations and with agencies that serve them -- including direct mail, interactive marketing, consulting, advertising and P.R. firms
•    Prospect and forge new relationships to boost the number of nonprofits that Care2 serves
•    Develop customized proposals aimed at recruiting Care2 members to become email subscribers, members, donors and grassroots supporters of clients’ nonprofit organizations
•    Meet face to face with clients regularly to strengthen relationships, boost awareness of Care2 services and obtain referrals
•    Meet individualized quarterly and annual growth targets
•    Monitor the success of campaigns and work with Care2’s campaign team to manage overall client satisfaction by meeting or exceeding client expectations
•    Represent Care2 at industry conferences and networking events
•    Maintain detailed records of contacts at nonprofits, and at the agencies that serve nonprofits; carefully log all encounters with clients and potential clients; keep in-depth history of issues raised by them and solutions provided by Care2
•    Track sales activities using Salesforce.com tools
•    Present new business ideas to the management team and help lead strategy discussions
•    Demonstrate individual and project management leadership within Care2 consistent with an upward growth path
•    Help to establish alliances with other for-profits and Internet companies serving nonprofits
•    Be a thought leader at Care2, contributing to formulating company strategy
•    Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
•    Several years of experience working with nonprofits in a sales, business development or marketing role
•    Demonstrated ability to think on your feet, and to negotiate and close successful partnerships
•    Strong active listening, relationship-building, consulting and client management skills
•    Proven ability to establish and manage lasting, mutually beneficial business partnerships
•    Network of contacts with leading nonprofit, foundations and agencies serving nonprofits
•    Self-starter, dynamic and able to thrive in an unstructured environment
•    Superb writing and speaking skills, and ability to interact effectively with teammates
•    Real interest in the environment, social justice and socially responsible entrepreneurship
•    Strong work ethic and effectiveness at working collaboratively
•    Ability to work quickly under pressure and multi-task
•    Willingness to travel when necessary for in-person sales calls and industry conferences
•    A college education
•    Mastery of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
•    Previous experience using Salesforce.com is a plus
