Position Description: Manager of Internet Services
This position implements the production, operations and maintenance of CCMC’s online presence. The manager is responsible for implementing the transition of CCMC’s current online presence into a focused, forward-looking 2.0 platform that integrates all of CCMC’s assets effectively and efficiently, with the dual goals of providing comprehensive state-of-the-art support to our constituency, and generating unrestricted revenue to sustain our operations.
The Manager of Internet Services reports to the vice president.
Responsibilities:
Technology & Design
The Manager: 1. Serves as the lead in-house technical and design architect of CCMC’s Web platform.
2. Supports CCMC’s programmatic work utilizing the power of the Web to advance communications strategies for policy change.
3. Assists in the hiring and managing all outside vendors that support, host and develop the platform.
4. Inspires and manages the development of new technologies to support CCMC activities and keep them on the cutting-edge.
5. Manages the ongoing maintenance of all CCMC-affiliated Web sites, including CCMC’s presences on partners’ sites.
6. Initiates and maintains ongoing assessments of the effectiveness of technologies currently in use by CCMC and new technologies, using qualitative and quantitative research and tracking systems.
Member Services
The Manager: 7. Seeks and acts on opportunities to create, sustain and build CCMC’s on-line subscription membership base, functioning as the membership coordinator and first responder to members’ questions and concerns.
8. Provides ongoing customer training and support for all CCMC web-based commodities in-person, on-line, and over the phone. Establishes levels of training and support using a sliding scale of fees-for-services.
9. Builds community among members and anticipates member needs in terms of new training and support.
In-house Support
The Manager: 10. Participates in project planning and administration, such as: preparation of proposals and reports to donors; and organization-wide budget and work-plan development.
11. Provides training and technical assistance on Web-based communications strategies to staff and select CCMC partner organizations in-person, on-line, and over the phone.
12. Facilitates and supports a gradual shift in CCMC’s way of doing business so that the new platform is owned by all staff members, improving the effectiveness and quality of their work, and building the CCMC brand in both the non-profit and commercial sectors.
Competencies: *Experience and ability to design and maintain a complex interactive Web presence. *In-depth knowledge of current and evolving technologies of social networking for cause advocacy and marketing including sites at FaceBook and MySpace, as well as interactive tools like webinars, podcasts, forums, and blogs.. *Knowledge of the current and evolving technologies behind the sales and marketing of Web-based services for non-profit organizations. *Proven training and client-support skills for a range of audiences in a range of venues from group Webinars and seminars, to one-on-one in-person or over-the-phone trainings. * Ability and willingness to present CCMC’s technological capacities in conferences and other forums. * Proficiency with a broad array of standard and cutting-edge software. * Fascination with and commitment to social policy issues, ideally those that CCMC supports. In-depth understanding of the nonprofit community and progressive issues, both domestically and globally. Overall news junky. * Strong writing, editing and proof-reading skills, especially writing for the Web. * Willing to engage in rapid responses, quick turnarounds and urgent campaign strategies that are based in an organized work-plan and pre-determined evaluation metrics. * Comfortable working with teams, excellent interpersonal skills and a sense of humor. * The ideal candidate will be proactive in terms of identifying user trends and then generate new content and services in response to that.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess a bachelor's degree although a master's degree is preferred. Five to seven years' experience in related Web-based communications fields is required. CCMC offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits.
