The National Office of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a national not-for-profit public interest organization devoted to the defense of the Bill of Rights, invites applications for the full-time position of Communications Administrative Assistant to work in its Communications Department. This position reports to the Editorial Manager.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain accurate records of in-house and external inventory; order and maintain inventory of merchandise.
• Respond to general calls from affiliates and the public regarding availability of publications and merchandise.
• Provide customer service; respond to general written and verbal inquiries.
• Process and get approval for routine reprint permission requests for articles, images and logos.
• Assist with basic Internet research, including fact checking and availability of stock photographs.
• Word processing of various documents.
• Maintain and update filing system.
• Schedule, coordinate and prepare materials for meetings.
• Perform other administrative assistant duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• A Bachelor’s degree or combination of related work experience and education preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and excellent organizational skills required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; excellent writing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines; must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong computer skills, including experience using the Internet, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Access); experience using Convio a plus.
• Interest in civil liberties is preferred.


COMPENSATION
Salary of $34,002. Excellent health and welfare benefits.
