Western Colorado Congress is an alliance for community action empowering peopel to protect and enhance their quality of life in western Colorado. Work with 3,000+ members, 11 staff and 8 community groups promoting a healthy environment and sustainable economies. Based in Grand Junction. Many recreational opportunities nearby. Salary $40,000-45,000 DOE.

The Executive Director (ED) is accountable to the WCC Board of Directors. Primary responsibilities are providing leadership and management for the organization to implement and execute policies and strategies approved by the Board, assure financial stability of the organization, supervise all staff, and enhance the public image of Western Colorado Congress. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Organizational Leadership
 With the Board of Directors, develops and implements a vision and strategic plan
 Facilitates a team approach among WCC’s staff, Board of Directors, community groups and members
 Informs and advises the Board on internal and external issues, developments and trends
 Conducts official correspondence and represents the organization as required
 Ensures compliance with all regulations pertaining to 501(c)(3) organizations

Financial Stability/Fundraising
 Works with Development Director to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan
 Develops and maintains working relationships with key foundation leaders and major donors
 Prepares annual budget for Board of Directors approval
 Ensures compliance with budget; monitors and controls cash flow; and regularly informs Board
 Ensures accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial accounting, reporting and auditing

Staff Supervision
 Develops operational plans to achieve strategic goals
 Determines staffing requirements and oversees staff hiring
 Ensures appropriate orientation and training for new and continuing staff
 Monitors staff performance; implements discipline, remediation, or separation if required
 Conducts annual performance evaluation including salary/compensation review
 Assures health and safety of the workplace
 Fosters atmosphere of communication, cooperation, and community

Communications
 Maintains effective internal communications with Board of Directors, staff, members, and community groups
 Maintains effective external communications with allied organizations, foundations, major donors, federal and state agencies, the public, political entities, and other organizations and individuals that affect WCC operations
 Understands the impact of technology on communications and implements new technologies
