New Convio Study Projects Donations in the Face of Tough Economic Times

The current economic situation has made many nonprofits nervous about incoming donations in the next few months.  However, a study by Convio provides some hope in the form of online donations.

The study found that Americans plan to donate to nonprofits this holiday season at roughly the same levels as they did last year. This is the key finding of a new Convio study that also found that 42 percent of donors plan to donate up to $100, and that total donations will reach about $3 billion this holiday season.

Consumers are moving towards the Internet in their communications with nonprofits and the smartest thing for nonprofits to do in the face of economic uncertainty is to turn to the Internet, as well.

Accessibility and innovation are important factors in taking advantage of generosity during the holiday season this year. Donors, especially younger ones, are going online to support nonprofits, so making it easy for donors to find nonprofits’ websites is a must. Finding newer ways to attract donors is proving to be successful already and will continue to be even when money is tight.

I really enjoyed your article working in the fundraising industry and being a volunteer for a local soccer club, I have seen firsthand the concerns that many are having.

I wrote an article on my blog about recession proof fundraising, you might find it interesting.
